Next, information on ‘Minato Local History Museum’s Corner Exhibition’.
Minato Local History Museum holds a variety of exhibitions. The current exhibition is ‘Modern History from Archaeological Materials 2 – The Modern Age of Daimyo Mansion Sites’.
Many of the Daimyo mansions established in the city during the Edo Period were used as public land for imperial family residences, government buildings, and military reservations after the Meiji Restoration. The previous exhibition, ‘Modern History from Archaeological Materials’, introduced Daimyo Mansion Sites that had become railway land, school premises, military reservations and imperial family residences.
This corner exhibition will give visitors a glimpse of daimyo mansion sites that have turned into residential areas, through the excavation results of sites such as the Bungo-mori clan’s Kuru-shima family mansion and the ruins of the Tamba-kameyama clan’s Matsudaira family mansion and the Tajima-izushi clan’s Sengoku family mansion.
The exhibition period is from Friday 20th January to Wednesday 14th March. It will be closed on Sundays, national holidays, and the third Thursday of each month.
Enquiries should be made to Minato Local History Museum on 03-3452-4966.
